Skenfrith Castle (Skenfrith)

It was in the late 1200's when King Henry II founded the stone castle on the site already established by William fitz Osborn earlier, in the 11th century. The 13th century saw its demolition to be replaced by a courtyard and stone keep. It is this structure that is encircled by a broad stone revetted moat.
