New York City's 42nd Precinct is located at 830 Washington Ave. in the borough of the Bronx. The Precinct was designed in 1904 by Charles Volz and has been deemed a landmark building. During 1997 there have been renovations done to the interior of the Precinct in an effort to prepare for policing in the 21st Century.

The 42nd Precinct House was used to film the exterior shoots during the making of the 1981 movie "Fort Apache : The Bronx" starring Paul Newman. Looking very much at the time of it's filming (1980) as in the picture above ; even though in the film it was supposedly set at the 41st Precinct instead, which had been precinct used in the earlier book "Fort Apache" by Tom Walker. It involved a protest/riot scene filmed in the small open plaza in front of the house, whereas, the original 41st Precinct house, located on Simpson Street a not especially broad roadway, wouldn't have allowed for the crowd scene.

The 42nd Precinct covers an area of 1.09 square miles and is known as the Morrisanna Section of the Bronx. The Precinct breakdown is as follows: Residential 44.%, Industrial 4.3%, Commercial 7.3%, Vacant 38.7%, Other(parks) 5.7%.
