  • The Gotham Branch of the Great Central Railway terminated in a goods yard. Gotham never had, nor was there planned to be, a passenger railway station. The branch served the goods yard, the Gotham Company's works (later British Gypsum) and also had at least one short siding for agricultural traffic. There were larger sidings alongside the main line, close to the junction, and a signal box. The goods yard close in the late 1950s. The branch was then cut back to the British Gypsum works, and this closed around 1969, followed by the sidings and signal box which was subsequently demolished. The first section of the line, as far as the Gotham/East Leake road, is traceable but overgrown. From there to the Gotham/Kegworth road it is partly covered by a bypass road, otherwise traceable but overgrown. From the Kegworth road it is a public walk as far as the site of the goods yard, which remains in private ownership. The embankment of the mineral tramway that came down to the goods yard from the hills to the north still exists.
