Flagg made Brass and Iron pipe fittings and castings here since 1854. The plant finally closed in 1997 and was demolished in 1999. The cement floor still remains. The nearby underpass was to allow employees to access the plant from across High street. The tunnel has since been blocked off.

  • My great grand dad worked there, im looking for information on him. John Novak.
  • Wow so many memories! I used to work there back in 1994 for couple of months when the union workers went on strike against the management. I guess that company never became the same afterwards.
  • I was an English immigrant that worked there in the late 60's, initially as a mail clerk, delivering mail around the plant and then in the payroll department. I would love to hear from anyone that worked there at that time, but especially my soul sisters Barbara and Carolyn. I was eating fried chicken and mashed potatoes tonight that you taught me how to make, Sue Arrowsmith Kirk
  • Sue, my grandfather, Earl Zimmerman worked there when I was just a young-in, back in the mid 60's. I remember he would occasionally bring home cast iron dachshund door stops.
  • My dad james wilkins worked there til the end in 97, he died in jan 2015, his brothers john and horace worked there and my uncle bob white, that place looked like hell, but it put food on the table
  • I worked at Flagg's from 1977 to 1983. I worked in payroll, coreshop, foundry, brass finishing ans Peter Healey in the office. Met a lot of great people. Made a ton of friends.
  • Hi Janet, I worked with you from 1979 to 1983. I left in 1987. Dave Fillman
  • Hi Dave! I'm a college student doing research on Pottstown's industry from the 1970s on. I am using personal interviews to tell the story. Would you be interested in filling in questions or talking on the phone about your time at Flagg?
  • I worked at Flagg's in summers of 1978 and '79 while in college, and had family members work there for a couple generations. The story of Flaggs and people who worked there would make an excellent history. I know of the chief engineer Hallowell and many others who worked there, too. Leonard Harp, Janet in payroll! Love to talk with the old crew. Have pictures of a bunch of the people who were at a retirement party.
  • A lot of the old fellows are gone...Pete Angstadt, Harvey Sterner(?), Walt Griggs, Mr Shaner on testing, Walt Keen, Walt Griggs...
