Manisan, or Mani Mountain is the highest mountain at 472.1m above sea level on Ganghwa Island. It was designated as national tourist resort in 1977. Chamsongdan (a sanctuary altar built by Dangun who is the Korean national founding father) is Historic Site #136 located on the top of Manisan
Thousands of tourist visit the alter every year where the annual service honoring Dangun is held here on October 3rd, the National Foundation Day. The symbolic fire is taken from Chamsongdan and is relayed to the opening of the annual National Athletic Meet.
