  We visited Glenorchy in 2002. Beautiful spot and great launch point for stunning outdoor adventures. There's a cafe close to the lake where we had the best French onion soup ever (they also had a turntable spinning LPs). If you want to go jet boating, do the Dart River which starts at Glenorchy. You'll see where many Lord of Rings scenes were filmed. We splurged for our honeymoon and stayed at nearby Blanket Bay which is probably the nicest place we've ever stayed.
