Those who are single/lonely would visit the lady medium to arrange for a session to "pull red string" (拉紅線) which in Chinese means to get a match (hitched/attached). She would tell them which day (based on their date of birth) to come back and to bring along some items like red and white sewing threads and a certain amount of fruits.
