Lopukhinsky Chambers (Moscow)

Built in 1687-1688

Set in the monastery wall, this red brick building with contrasting white stonework was originally the stone palace of Ekaterina, another of Peter the Great's sisters. Later it became the final home from 1727-1731 for Evdokia Lopukhina, Peter the Great's first wife. The reception area of the Metropolitan of Krutitsky and Kolomna now occupies the low vaulted rooms with tile stoves.
