The niche were constructed by the Third caliph of Islam Othman(Usman) Ibn Affan May Allah be pleased with him after his expansion of the Prophet mosque. In Mamlook era The original location of that niche was slightly changed during the renewal of the mosque, more decoration and improvement applied in 1198 and 1336(Islamic calendar).The niche is the official location for Imam during prayers until today.
