Vikarabad is mandal HQ (mdl code-19) in Rangareddy Dt. Vikarabad or Vicarabad was founded and named after the fifth Amir of Paigah H.E. Nawab Sir Vikar ul Umra Bahadur, prime minister of Hyderabad and Berar (this territory was Paigah Jagir of Sir Vikar ul umra also included his Private estate),is a town and a Municipality in Ranga Reddy District in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The city is well connected on railroad and has Vikarabad Junction where the railway line coming from Hyderabad/Secunderabad Jn bifurcates towards Pune/Mumbai via Wadi Junction. The other line goes to Parli Vaijnath (a Jyotirlinga Centre) in Maharashtra and further on to Parbhani in Maharashtra. Its climate was famous during the princely era with Vikar Manzil Palace being a summer retreat of the Nawab (Begumpet railway station was specially constructed by Sir Vikar with in his Begumpet Paigah palace conglomerate for his travel to Vikarabad). But sadly now deforestation has deprived this city and Taluka of its ecological pre-eminence. * 1. * 2. Ananthagiri Hills which is located 6 km away from Vikarabad, it is well known for Anantha Padnabhanaba swamy temple. It is one of the big forest area in Ranga Reddy district. It is the place where Musi river starts. It is also called as Ooty of Andhra Pradesh. There is also a TB hospital located on Ananthagiri hills. It is second biggest TB hospital in AP.
* 3. Bugga Rameshwaram: It is a place which is located 4 km away from Vikarabad. It is well known for Shivalayam temple.
* 4. Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple: Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple is situated in Ananthagiri Village, just 6 km from Vikarabad Mandal, Ranga Reddy District and 75 km from Hyderabad city.
