Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni or MCAS Iwakuni (ICAO: RJOI) is a United States Marine Corps air station located in the Nishiki river delta in the city of Iwakuni in Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan.

Interesting factoid: The attack on Pearl Harbor was planned from the headquarters building here.

  • Blocks 7 & 8 were formerly kamikaze barracks. When I was there, 1956-1958, Block 8 = Marines & Block 7 = Navy barracks. They were each two story square doughnut shaped buildings. Block 8 had a triangular fish pool near the heads (toilets). Main gate faced 4-corners in Iwakuni and C-gate was next to a river, possible Nishikawa (West River).
