With 459,000 people Nagasaki has made a great recovery from the wreckage of an atomic bomb dropped by American forces in WWII that ended the war. It has 3 main universities and many beautiful parks. Nagasaki was the city where Chinese and Dutch traders did their business between the 17th and 19th centuries during Japan's period of cultural isolation. So now the city is considered exotic because of its foreign influences.
