Makati is the financial center of the Philippines; it has the highest concentration of multinational and local corporations in the country. The biggest trading floor of the Philippine Stock Exchange used to be situated along the city's Ayala Avenue, before the stock exchange moved their headquarters to the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Makati is also known for being a major cultural and entertainment hub in Metro Manila.

According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 629,616 people making it as the 17th most populous city in the country and ranked as the 41st most densely populated city in the world with 19,336 inhabitants per square kilometer. Although its population is just half a million, the daytime population of the city is estimated to be more than one million during a typical working day because of the large number of people who go to the city to work, shop, and do business.

  • makati business district, tallest building is pbcom. ayala - the only street where there is organized traffic (only til 7.30pm, damn) if you're new coming over for like a job interview, watch out for the un/loading stations: tropical (from the buendia end) is unloading, convergys/lkg is loading, paseo is unloading, enterprise is loading, rustan's unloading, and glorieta both and dont wear heels!

  • I was so surprised to see Makati very very polluted. In fact, when we were there, there was this big block of smog hovering in the buildings, almost graying out the horizon - can't even see the condo buildings very well. I defintely would not buy a condo in that vicinity.

  • I keep coming back to Makati...
  • I grew up in Makati at bgy. Valenzuela. got lots of freebis esp. for senior citizens, reason why Makati is the best place to build a tall buildings is that its grounds are solid rock, so you could be able to erect a tall buildings. Binay did a very good job in attracting businesses - he has a very sensible & tactical good governance. makati is following the footpsteps of Singapore but will need help fromth epeople itself.
