Estate at 750 Bel Air Road, Los Angeles, CA 90077 -main entry on Nimes Rd. at Bel Air Rd. Originally the Kirkeby Estate (built 1933), and then made famous on TV as "The Beverly Hillbillies Mansion." It is surrounded by extensive formal gardens. The 21,523 square foot main house has ten bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Other properties added to the estate include much landscaped acreage, a 5,704 square foot house with five bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a 1,000 square foot house with 3 bedrooms and one bathroom. There are also a few guest houses scattered about the 9 acre estate. Zillow.com estimates the value of the main house at 19,700,000 dollars, and the entire estate at around 36 million dollars. Jerry Perenchio himself had a personal net worth of 3,100,000,000 dollars (give or take a couple of bucks) according to the Forbes magazine annual list of 400 wealthiest Americans. The original monumental front gate on Bel Air Road (made famous in the Beverly Hillbillies) was removed when Perenchio renovated the entire estate, deleting a venerable tourist attraction that had amazed tourists for years.

  • No, you're wrong. The is the TV series house. It was formerly known as the Kirkeby Mansion. Built in 1938, 750 Bel Air Rd is definitely the Hillbillies' house. Google this for heaven's sake. It's not even remotely in dispute.
  • The 90's Film House was in Pasadena b/c it's a block from my grandparents house.
  • According to my research, this listing appears to be correct. It should not be deleted!
  • This is the former Kirkeby Mansion in which the front exterior shots of the house were used in the Beverly Hillbillies TV show.
  • The Perenchio house is the former Kirkeby mansion. The Perenchios bought in the 1980s and have remodeled it extensively. The main entrance was relocated to 875 Nimes, but it was 750 Bel-Air Road until then. The Perenchios even did a book about their "new" house — a book titled, simply, "875 Nimes." So everyone is correct: This is the famous "Beverly Hillbillies" house AND the Perenchio house. An even better way to see it is via the (rather odd) Jerry Lewis movie "Cinderfella." Almost the whole film is set at the house, with extensive scenes of the real exteriors and real interiors, of course mixed with fantastical Hollywood sets.
  • my mom was mrs kirkebys physical therapst in the 80s
  • That is the house. A lot of work has been done to it. Yes, the famous gates are gone. George Vreeland Hill
  • I tried to find the book "875 Nimes" on Amazon and Abebooks but to no avail. Where can you find a copy?
  • It's featured pretty extensively in Jeff Hylands book Legendary Estates of Beverly Hills and talked about in great detail in the new Michael Gross book Unreal Estate.
  • The facade of the Kirkeby Estate was also used in the Sylvester Stallone feature film "Over the Top" 1987. During the final day of shooting at the estate, Stallone drove a semi cab into the front of the house. There were no special effects and the truck actually hit the front of the house. There were shock absorbers built to cushion the structure from damage but during break down the crew was hosing the front walk when there was a large amount of water flowing into the lover level of the home. The truck cab hit the shock absorbers with such force it had shifted the house on its foundations enough to allow water free access to the lower levels. I was on set with the location manager. Not sure if it was ever pointed out to the owners at the time.
  • Does anyone know where is the helipad mentioned by the Real Estalker?
  • I saw the book 875 Nimes on eBay it may still be for sale
  • Hi Doug there is a copy available on Amazon now http://www.amazon.com/875-Nimes-The-House-Gardens/dp/B0091VNM1I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378843472&sr=8-1&keywords=875+nimes
  • I don't understand WHY someone would come along and buy the home and then decide to change it all around and then try their best to keep people from an opportunity of seeing a piece of "Americana"...just seems cruel and mean spirited to me. If you have THAT kind of money you can buy virtually ANY house you want. Why take a piece television history like that and virtually destroy it.
  • Armed and Dangerous was also filmed here, correct interior and exterior shots galore,
  • I found interior pictures of the house you can find it at this link they're very beautiful. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipNeSZvtVtVG-mnFVQXQDNpDeinrpA67q_hgTuJ8VyHalnVr8kjFMfxv2FShL8AYBA?key=VDVQWWEydzBiQkx0ZjFsNjktQVJxN2h1bUd1X1FR
  • Thank you for sharing the photos. So beautiful.
  • I sure agree with Kenny12554...It is cruel and mean of the wealthy snobs to deprive tourist from seeing a part of TV history. They could have made a special tourist viewing area, but yet kept their privacy. Also like Kenny said, they could afford any home they want. See what money does to people. I can only imagine how rude, mean and how much better these snobs think they are than the rest of us!!!
  • He took the gate down, not the house. Geez people, lighten up. And for those of you saying he is a mean rich snob, check this out; Throughout his life, Perenchio’s charitable donations have been made anonymously, with substantial support given to the arts, education, health and a wide range of organizations in Los Angeles County. He was largely responsible for financing the state-of-the-art Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, which opened in 2008. In November 2014 Perenchio made a bequest to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) of 47 works of art valued at $500 million. The bequest, which is the largest gift of art in the museum’s history, will go in effect after his death provided that LACMA completes construction of its new building by the end of 2023. At the press conference announcing his bequest, Perenchio declared that "A big part of the heart and soul of any city is its dedication and commitment to the arts… I hope the gift of my art collection to LACMA will inspire other collectors to do the same and encourage all types of donations large and small."[14] At the same press conference, former Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky said of Perenchio "There is no citizen of this community who has been more generous, and has asked for less..."[15]
  • Scenes from the movie Mame also shot there.
