Still the largest pool in Florida? This was the center of George Merrick's Coral gables development. Actual Venetian gondolas and gondoliers took early guests from the Biltmore to the beach. The public spaces here are beautiful - especially, note the lobby's coffered ceilings. This building later served as a Veteran's Hospital for some years, before being restored as a hotel.
