This basin - a dry dock (Cale Sèche), was originally built for the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique - the "French Line" to accomodate the Ocean Liner ILE DE FRANCE in the early 1920's. It was expanded in 1935 to service the legendary NORMANDIE. The last great Ocean Liner to visit Forme 7 was the SS FRANCE (later NORWAY) of 1961. Forme 7 is no longer in use.
