The art museum is maintained by the Rauma art museum foundation and it promotes culture and art in the Rauma area. A rebuilt old public well is located in front of the museum.
The Rauma Art Museum is located in the Empire-style Pinnala building, part of which representing older Gustavian Classicism, was completed in 1795. This old tradesman’s mansion is surrounded by a closed courtyard, and even the courtyard buildings provide exhibition space.
