Mankiala is a small town located about 27 kilometres away from Rawalpindi city, just two kilometres from the Grand Trunk Road. It is famous for its ruined Makiala stupa or tope. The name Mankiala is said to be derived from Raja Man or Manik who built the stupa that lies to the south of Mankiala village.
