One of the oldest buildings on campus. Now houses offices for professors in the humanities, among other subjects.

During the early days of the Civil War, student who were southern sympathizers would use the height of the building to send signals on federal troop movements to Confederate forces in Fairfax County using pre-arranged signal flags.
