Just recently my father told me it was now Hollywood Pres. Wow! Anyway so proud to know I was born in a hospital with such rich Los Angeles roots and history....and it is also cool to see all of the posts here from other Queen of Angels babies.
  • I worked as head of the respiratory therapy department from 1969-1971. I found the Sisters quite pleasant and encouraging. The hospital, as I recall, was sold to a firm in Pennsylvania, and a new management came in and changed the atmosphere a bit. I left due to difficulties with the new management. But it was a wonderful place to work for the most part.

  • I was born there May 24, 1952. My mother was a graduate of it's diplomate school of nursing. Upon graduating, she worked in the preemie nursery. When I was born she was inspired by the Latin saying over the altar, Regum Angelorum. It translated to the name which I was given: Angela Regina. My parents divorced shortly after I was born. Because my mom was a single parent, working round-the-clock shifts, the Franciscan nuns were my baby sitters. They would take me into the gift shop and let me pick from the holy cards. They were so wonderful to me and my Moms. If anyone has photos of the chapel or the hospital in general, especially the thrift shop, please contact me on Facebook: Angi Simon, Washington state.
  • Cool to think I was born at what is now the Dream Center & that it is carrying on the legacy of care for the community that the Franciscan nuns began!

  • I was born their in 1963 my parents had nothing but good things too say about the hospital. I miss the original name of Queen of Angels Hospital. Wish they would of kept the name. Probably politics.
  • Wow!! You made it by the grace of God
  • I was married to Dr. Fabio Marcotulli - head of OB-Gyn I heard so many great stories. He passed away August 18, 1999. I always wondered about all the babies he brought into Los Angeles. God rest his soul - he was a dedicated doctor that had his medical career shortened by the medical malpractice suing lawyers. This has a horror of medicine in California - paying insurance to keep your doors open. He cried when he dropped me off at court in Pasadena in 1989. Cried. A grown man. A great man. Lawyers ruined medicine.
  • 3 of my four deliveries were with Dr. Marcotulli at Queen of Angels. Tragically, my first in 1968 was stillborn. Then beautiful babies followed, my daughter in 1971 and my son in 1972. I remember the doctor as compassionate, happy, and humorous. I've always had fond memories of him. And I always make a point of viewing the former hospital when I travel the 101 into town.
  • I was born there in 1964. My parents have both passed away and I wondering if anyone knows what floor the maternity ward was on at that time. I've always loved the name of that hospital.
  • I was born at Queen of Angels on Christmas night 1949, my parents making the drive across pre-freeway Los Angeles on surface streets from the Eastmont area of East LA. I also had surgery there in 1973. Missing from the film list but one with good interior and exterior views is the 1978 romantic comedy "House Calls" with Walter Mattau, Glenda Jackson, and Art Carney.
  • In 1970 thru 1973, I dated a very beautiful and wonderful Nurse who worked many shifts there. I still have fond memories of her that will last forever..
  • Very cool. We just missed each other. I was born June 2nd 1965
  • My brother was born there December of 1948, and me in April 1951. Baby booming time! Have been trying to find the name of the obstetrician there. If you come across a roster of doctors for that time, please post!
  • The description is from an old version from their website (no longer available)...http://web.archive.org/web/20100620203220/http://dreamcenter.org/aboutus/QofA.html
  • Feb 21, 1966!
  • I was new there in Dec 1968. Treated nice i'm sure and the bill was under 50 bucks.
  • I was born in 1954, my brother in 1952 at Queen of Angels. My Mom's doc was Dr McCarthy.
  • I was born there in 1942 as a preemie. Doctor told my folks I probably would die. Nuns wouldn't let me and I'm now 74 years old. My Mom told me the 'bill' was $24.00 and she was in hospital three days (standard at that time), while I was there for over two weeks. Just found it is gone. I had recently found a photo of it my Mom had so thought I'd look it up. Glad to see it is still being used for God's work.
  • Did you ever find your biological mother?
  • I was born there on March 7, 1968 and adopted out on April 4, 1968 through Holy Family Children Services/Orphanage. I would really like to find/know who were my biological parents and place this last piece of the puzzle of my life to make it complete. I'll I know from the very limited information I've found on my adoption papers is that my birth parents were of Mexican descent and my birth dad had green colored eyes. If anyone has or might provide information that may lead me to finding them I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You!
  • I was a preemie born 2 pounds. 1969. Doctors said I wasn't going to make it.
