village, spooky place, abandoned settlement

The ghost town of Kuldhara in Rajasthan, situated 15 Km west of Jaisalmer, has been abandoned. Considered to be a ghost village, Kuldhara is said to carry the curse of villagers who have migrated to other places. The village was established in 1291 by the Paliwal Brahmins. Legends suggest that 84 villages in this area were wiped out in the course of one single night due to dark practices and witchcraft that locals practised in the village.
