Wierum

Wierum means a home on a mound. Wierde is the Groningen dialect word for mound.
Restauration of the wierde since 2006. The cemetery has the original level of the wierde. The fields around will be leveled up with material from the nearby, southwards situated, Van Starkenborghkanaal. A long distance hiking trial the Pieterpad goes through Wierum.
