  • A friend and I used to serve mass during the tenure of Fr. Nico Bautista(circa 1968).Fr. Nico is now retired and lives in Mt. Makiling(Los Banos side) overlooking Batangas.Santolan was a very quiet and peaceful community. One of the prominent families there were the de Leons. They became community leaders. It is now a very ideal location for living as it is near almost every necessity one requires and the center of MetroManila is easily accessible by the MetroRail.
  • Mons. Nicolas Bautista, the parisch priest of this church sometime in the late '60's succumbed to his kidney ailments in July 2009.His remains were cremated. His foundation still lives on catering to students/scholars at the Don Bosco Technical School in Makati and the poor!
  • The last time I was in the Philippines(September,2009), I visited Santolan.Gone are the rice fields which dominated the area and the place was too noisy because of tricycles everywhere!!The church was still the same but the school has grown quite a lot!!I was able to talk(over the phone)to Nina de Leon and learned a bit about present conditions! The two persons I spent my time in Santolan way back in the mid 1960's (Mons. Nico Bautista and Vic "Boy" Laurena)are both gone(deceased)!
  • i like this church:)
  • i studied in sto. tomas de villanueva high school and served as "sakristan" to father nico. i was a scholar then of a group called thomasites through the generosity of mr. totong pasco until i was kick out, thanks to my principal who seems has no desire for me to stay in the school except those students as you say from the "prominent families". today, santolan is totally different from yesteryears, thanks to the visionary character of its leaders as well as in their in depth understanding on how urban models work.
