Constructed in 1914 and equipped with a pair of 3in (76 mm) guns for defense against small boats, Battery Hawkins was the smallest of the artillery fortifications at Fort Kamehameha. Remaining in operation through 1943 and serving primarily as an anti-submarine/torpedo boat battery, the Battery was disarmed and subsequently used as an observation post until the cessation of hostilities.
Now part of Hickam Air Force Base, the battery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
