The Petalies Gulf stretches from the South Evian Gulf near Agia Marina in the north down to the area of Karystia and Perigiali (a few kilometres north of Lavrio) and the northernmost tip of the island of Makronissos where a strait named the same name as the island and the rest of the Aegean Sea.
