Macon Terminal Station (Macon, Georgia)

USA / Georgia / Macon / Macon, Georgia
 museum, office building, railway

Former rail passenger terminal designed by c. 1916 by Alfred T. Fellheimer, with Central of Georgia, Southern, Georgia, and Macon Dublin & Savannah railroads once tenants and/or owners. Among the many name trains which once served the citizens, were the Suwannee River Special, the Nancy Hanks, the Southland, the Seminole, the Ponce de Leon, and the Kansas City-Florida Special. Most were discontinued in the mid twentieth century, and Macon has never seen regularly scheduled passenger service, since. Occasional detouring Amtrak trains or railway inspection specials, and private passenger specials, may operate through the site.
