Clarkfield is a city in sections 4-5 and 8-9 of Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. The population was 863 at the 2010 Census, down from 944 at the 2000 Census.

It was platted in 1884, incorporated in 1887, and separated from the township in 1910. The post office was established as Upland in 1883, changing to Clarkfield in 1884.
