La Pedriza is a beautiful protected natural area great for walking, mountaineering and mountain-biking. It's a great location if you enjoy waterfalls and picnics. Plenty of birds of prey on view and, if lucky you'll spot mountain deer. Pedriza is part of the Sierra Guadarrama whose peaks reach around 2400m. It is located next to the village of Manzanares el Real: the location of an exceptionally well-preserved 16th-centry castle. Worth a day-trip and very popular with Madrileans (30-40mins drive from city centre).
