Divergence/convergence of the historic Wilmington and Weldon(W&WRR) Weldon-Wilmington,NC(former HQ's of ACL RR)route from a constructed "Fayetteville cutoff" linking this point to Pee Dee, SC, a similar junction, which provided later day ACL, Richmond,VA.-Savannah,GA-Florida, traffic a competitive "speedway" versus SEABOARD Air Line's parallel(approx. 68 km separation) route via Raleigh, NC and Columbia, SC to Savannah, GA.
