Typical Street (Delhi)

India / Delhi / Nangloi Jat / Delhi

Before the village land was acquired by the DDA, and the people got money, with an exception of a few, most houses were made of unbaked mud bricks. The streets were so wide that houses were approachable by bullock carts. But now the common space has been encroached so much so that even a bicycle rickshaw or a donkey has difficulty to pass through one of these streets. Some of the houses have first floors so close that they nearly touch each other. Steps, platforms, dirty drains in front of houses, and leaking water pipes in the streets have become a real health hazards.
