Golf course. Nine holes. Lots of sand traps.
Now open to the public year round. The original Trona Golf Course was built in 1926 for the enjoyment of the Company's employees. That site was built over by the Company's expansion in 1977-1978. The Trona Golf Course was relocated to the present site in 1977. (At that time the swimming pool was still in operation.) At first the "greens" were merely sand mixed with oil but in 1981 they were covered with real sod, i.e. winter rye grass. Green fee is five dollars (pay by the honor system as there is usually nobody around but you.) At the unattended pro shop you can pick up a score card on which is printed an (indispensable) map of the course. Dress code: shoes and shirt required, metal spikes not permitted. Local rules allow players to tee up on the fairways or use an astroturf mat (recommended.) Foreward tee: 2,584 yards, slope 125, par 36. Middle tee: 3,113 yards, slope 128, par 36, USGA rating 35.2

  • Actually, this golf course has just one sand trap, but it covers the entire 22 acres of the course.
