Georgian terrace set back from the London Road, Bath.
Started in 1791 to the designs of John Eversleigh this development ran into finacial problems almost immediately. There was a nation wide speculative housing boom in the 1780s. Bath, for a number of reasons saw more speculative developments than possibly anywhere else outside London. In 1793 there was a financial crisis meant several Banks in Bath got into trouble. A number of builders and developers went bankrupt, including John Eversleigh. Building ceased for a long time and the last houses here were sold in the 1820s. Completed by other hands, there is a mixture of designs and on some of the houses Eversleigh's detailing is conspiciously unfinished.
