Locally dubbed "the Ridley Acme," this branch of the Albertsons family serves as the cornerstone of the Ridley Shopping Center and played a critical role in the center's growth and appeal. Currently, it is the largest business on the property and served as a major competitor to a nearby Pathmark supermarket (before it closed). It is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The store's opening in February 1999 followed the closure of two smaller locations at MacDade Boulevard and Fairview Avenue (now a Bally's Total Fitness Gym) in Woodlyn and at MacDade Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue (PA 420) in Morton (now a CVS/pharmacy). Unlike its predecessors, the "Ridley Acme" is a modernized structure, featuring an exposed ceiling (painted a dark green). The supermarket's delicatessen, bakery, and seafood departments are greatly expanded upon the offerings in the former Morton and Woodlyn stores, and a full-service pharmacy, later acquired by Albertson's drugstore partner Sav-On Pharmacy, was included in the design. Other features include a branch of Citizen's Bank, floral department, and seasonal displays often offering items designed after local Philadelphia sports teams.
