airport, village

This is the collective name given to three villages: Over Wallop, Middle Wallop and Nether Wallop. Their name comes from 'waella' (street) and 'hop' (valley). Middle Wallop has an airfield used by the Army Air Corps with a nearby Museum of Army Flying. Elsewhere in Hampshire there is another 'Wallop' called Farleigh Wallop which is rather detached from these settlements.
