The most northeasterly village in Great Britain and Scotland, and a popular tourist destination as a result, although the most northern point is actually nearby at Dunnet Head. Its name comes from a Dutchman called Jan de Groot who ran a ferry service to the Orkney Islands nearby. It is 603 miles as the crow flies from Land's End, and 874 miles by road.
