Roman Baths

Spain / Cadiz / Barbate /

It was excavated in 1970. This roman baths were built in the end of 1st century - beginning of 2nd century AD, being in use until the end of the 4th century AD. It is possible that the main thermal baths in Baelo have not yet been discovered. Those which can currently be seen probably constitute a small semi-public enclosure for thermal baths, belonging to a private residence, undoubtedly integrated in the local oligarchy.

They are accessed from the Decumanus Maximus. There is a \"caldarium\" or hot room, heated from the furnace which in turn distributed the heating; \"tepidarium\" or tepid room for washing oneself; \"frigidarium\" or cold room for the washing oneself and taking the baths.
