Predeal is located in the southern county of Brasov, the upper limit of the Prahova Valley, in the gorge of the same name in the Carpathians, at an altitude of 1060 m is the most important pass between Wallachia and Transilvania.Este city at the highest altitude in Romania 25 km from Brasov and 140 km from Bucharest. The Predeal pass National Road DN1 (E60) and electrified railway-European Corridor IV.

The first documentary mention of the name appears in Predeal ruler Constantin Brancoveanu letter of 26 February 1705.Pasul Predeal was first used in the passage of armies in Transylvania in 1611, when, desperate for persecution of Gabriel Bathory - Prince of Transylvania - Saxon Brasov his name to help the Wallachian prince Radu Serban.
