The Alexander Brown Restaurant (Baltimore, Maryland)

USA / Maryland / Baltimore / Baltimore, Maryland / East Baltimore Street, 135
restaurant, bank, NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, interesting place

Restaurant housed in the former headquarters of Alex. Brown & Sons, designed by Parker & Thomas and constructed by Geo. A. Fuller Company 1901, is one of the few standing buildings in the downtown remaining that survived the fire of 1904. Its stained glass dome was likely by Gustave Baumstark who studied under both Louis Comfort Tiffany and John LaFarge.

Most recently a Chevy Chase Bank branch, the building was adaptively reused to house a restaurant which opened in 2013. Its opulent interior--including the tellers cages--were preserved in the transition.
