museum, former train/railway station
Still preserved as the home of the present-day Sayre Historical Society, LVRRs Sayre Station was a major passenger stop on all trains to/from Buffalo, Cortland, Auburn, New York and points beyond. The two-story station also housed division offices and served as the de facto operations headquarters for the Sayre yard. After the end of passenger operations through Sayre on LVRR in 1959 the building continued to be used as offices but was not taken over for any use by Conrail when LVRR went under in 1976. It was however spared the wrecking ball and was eventually purchased by the City of Sayre, and is now maintained in its in-service appearance.
