  • The Ikuchi Bridge utilizes a unique composite design. The center span uses a light-weight and strong steel girder, while the shorter side spans are heavier prestressed concrete sections which act as counterweights. While it is not the only bridge to utilize such a composite design, with its center span of 490m it is the world's longest combined steel and concrete deck cable stayed bridge.
