I heard this is the place where baseball hall of famer Babe Ruth a homer back in the 1930s. He and one other player at the time are the only MLB players in the league's history to do so. I wonder if it's true, though. |

I watched a number of games in thisstadium in 1946. A baseball, name and date were painted on the outfield fence for home runs. In addition to Babe Ruth, there wee a number of other players names on the fence. Joe Gargiola had more than anyone when he played srvice baseball for the Manila Dodgers. He left the team in time to play in the 1946 World Series for the St. Louis Cardinals. |

Wait, there were actual baseball teams in the Philippines, too? Wow! I thought they were joking around when they talked about it during a Boston Red Sox game! I have only visited the stadium once when I was in the Philippines and never realized how much history occured in that place. I hope I can go back one of these years and visit the place again except I am in the U.S. |

Hey guys, they do play baseball at this stadium, but it's not a pro league and it's only a weekend league. As for Babe Ruth playing and hitting a homerun at this stadium, it could have happen early in his career with the Yankees. I don't know how old this field is, but I know for fact that Babe Ruth didn't player here in the 1940's. It had be in the early 1930's or late 1920's. Ruth last season with the Yankees was 1934, he was let go after the Yankees 1934 tour of japan. He then signed with the Boston Braves for the 1935 season, but lasted only 28 game before walking away from the game. He then became a coach with the Brooklyn Dodgers in the early 1940's, so unless hit that homerun with Yankees in the glory years of the 20's or he hit as coach with Brooklyn Dodgers in early 1940's, I know he didn't hit it in 1935, his last game was with the Pirates when hit 3 homeruns in game and walked away after that. So, maybe not or it might had happen. |
