  • It was actually a movie about Patsy Cline. It was made after she was killed in a plane crash.
  • Dont jump off the rocks, guys with shotguns came and kicked us out. It's alright to swim but the cliffs are privately owned.
  • Do not go there! Times have changed! Your car will be towed; No matter where you park! ITS PRIVATE! State Cops and locals are mean
  • My friends and I recently snuck into Bakerton Quarry (08/26/15) for starters this land is deff privately owned. Your car can deff be towed since it's all private roads. Also, im not sure if it was just us and we didn't know but there is no EASY way to access the quarry. We came in on the cliff side and scoured the entire area for access points (ladders, stairs, slightly sloped hills) and found nothing. We ended up scaling the cliff side (NOT recommended) the walls are not hard rock and had little to no plant growth for support. The descent had to have been at least 100-200 feet being made up of all sand and pebbles (extremely dangerous in retrospect) we climbed the cliff closest to the beachy entrance where we saw canoes (assuming this path has been well traveled by other tresspassers) - I'm pretty athletic and had major difficulty climbing back up, not to mention I suffered a huge mental block when the Sand and gravel started giving away under me. As for the water, it's GORGEOUS; crystal clear fresh water. we didn't venture out too deep after we lost footing when walked into the quarry (DEEP DROP OFFS) the quarry floor is super soft and just gives away when stepped on so be careful. We heard a warning shot being fired off when we first arrived on the cliffs but had no encounters or sightings of locals. This place was eerily quiet when we visited, the buzzing of a fly sounded like a motorcycle; that's how quiet it was. We started to leave when we saw stuff jumping out of the water. At first we thought someone threw something in to scare us off but we realized whatever it was jumped out of the water not into it. Being only three of us out there we decided it was time to leave and come back with a larger group another time. Totally worth the trouble and risk but if you don't know of an established & safe entrance to the water deff bring rope. I've also heard others enter from the cave side and bring rope ladders to easily get out of the water after jumping in.
  • This is a private quarry. Well guarded and police patrolled. No public access is allowed.
  • This is a HOA private lake with armed security and cameras.
  • Went with a group of friends today, no problems, just one HOA member politely asked us to leave later
  • It used to be open to the public years ago. It's a shame they stopped that. Everyone should see this WV beauty. It is definitely worth the trouble to see.
  • "Armed Security"? What are they going to do, shoot you? That would look real good on headstone "Shot in Jerkwater USA for Swimming in Abandoned Rock Quarry"
  • We went today 8/24/17, no one was there, only residents are supposed to use it but they can bring guests with a day pass. We didn't have a pass but met a kind resident who was walking on the road on the way there who said we could use her name. She told us how to get there, the entrance is on the other side of the cliffs and is very easy to access. I love these quarries and wish they were open, it's really a shame to stop people from enjoying them.
  • Hi there, I'm planning a trip out there soon and was interested in who gave you permission. Is there any way you would mind providing that for me so I can get I touch with them beforehand? I can give my email address for their privacy.
