Founded in 1884 and incorporated in December 1916.
Clermont experienced rapid growth in the 2000s. This growth was greatly affected by the effects of the economic crisis of the late 2000's recession but has resumed.

Climate:

The climate is dominated by two seasons: a wet season starting from late May and ending in late September, and a dry season starting from early October and ending in mid May.

It was named after Clermont-Ferrand, France.
