Mother Seton House is where Elizabeth Ann Seton came with her three daughters in 1808 at the request Bishop John Carroll. She founded a school for girls here and, in the adjacent chapel, took her vows as a Sister and received the first members of her newly founded religious community, the Sisters of Charity. Elizabeth Ann Seton was canonized on September 14, 1975, becoming the first native-born saint in the United States.
