  • In 1948 mahtmaghandhi the father of the nation after his death his ashes were taken to mansarovar for rituls through nitipass.Just after this pass tibet (now in china)valley starts in which mansarovar lake is situted. .

  • Some European explorers went through Niti Pass and into Tibet in search of Mt. Kailash, Lake Mansarover and the source of the Ganga. There were ancient Hindu beliefs which traced the source of the Ganga to “mountain shaped like a cow’s mouth” and also to Lake Mansarover. In Aug 1812 Dr. William Moorcroft (a vet by profession) went around Lake Mansarover and concluded the Ganga or any other major river did not originate from the lake.
  • The riverkarnali origenates from lake mansarovar and flows throgh out in nepal and finally it meets with ghaghraon indonepal border near rajpur.
