He is Sheikh Ismail Al-Wali Al-Badiri Al-Dahmashi Al-Abbasi, the founder of the Ismaili method. Sheikh Ismail Al-Wali was born in the city of Al-Ubayd, the capital of Kordofan in 1207 A.H. corresponding to 1787 AD.

Sheikh Ismail Al-Wali died in Al-Ubayyid on Sunday Rajab 16/1280 AH corresponding to 1860 AD and he was 73 years old.
