At one time, when Shanahans was known as 'The Round Table', this was the local 'watering hole' for live-in employees (and, evidently, patients..) of the adjacent Kings Park Psychiatric Center. It is now a great place for food or a drink while visiting the adjacent campus, now 'technically' known as the Nissequogue River State Park.
