Built in 1908 bIt soon became the elegant Heritage House restaurant, and soon after, the more casual Rathskeller, located downstairs. Both quickly gained popularity with both locals and travelers alike.
Competition from other restaurants, including casinos -- which took away bus tour groups -- and higher energy prices, caused the number of patrons to dwindle, forcing Ebenhoeh to put the business up for sale six years ago.
With no buyer, Heritage House continued its tradition of serving food and good cheer. Then the property went to auction in the fall of 2004.
Once again, the lack of a new owner kept the doors open, until now. The property is still for sale, but this time its offered as residential.
It's kind of fitting that the historic home might once again be filled with the sound of laughter -- not from hungry guests, but instead from children playing.
y lumbar baron George Nason, Heritage House was once just that -- a home and family residence. In 1980, Howard Ebenhoeh turned the stately manor into several eateries.
