An American in Nangal (Nangal)

I lived here as a child in the early 1950's when the dam was being built. The buildings in town were new. These pictures were taken in the Main Market about 1954.I've been back, and Nangal is lovely.

I have added a picture of Empire Stores taken in the gol market,and two of the house where we lived (taken a year apart). These houses are located in the place marked on the map.

  • This is 19 River View Road - I grew up here, along with my brother (1969-1978) and we are also in US :)
  • River view road bungalows are now worn out and ruined.Although Nangal has grown in all the directions yet old Nangal Town is now deteriorated.
  • I was born in Nangal in 1970 and spent my babyhood and pre-school there there then came back to go to school at FCI Model Higher Secondary school from 1976 -78. Now I'm in the U.S. as well. have gone back a number of times, loved the Jamun and mango trees lining the roads. Would love to buy something near the river close to Bhabaur Sahib!
