Built some time during 1943 when the Navy began using the island as a bombing range. It consisted of a single 3,300 foot runway with no support facilities. It is not clear if the runway was used solely as a bombing target or if it was an emergency landing strip as well.A 1989 USGS map includes the annotation "Military Reservation.Restricted Area.US Navy Air to Ground target.Ordnance expenditure authorized 7 days a week."
